Before you buy
Will it fit my car?
It's 137cm (54") wide, which covers the rear bench of most saloons, family cars, SUVs and pickups. Measure the width of your back seat — if it's 137cm or under, you're fine. It won't work in a two-seater, or a car whose rear seats don't form a continuous bench.
Will it slide around on leather seats?
This is the thing people get caught out by, so here's how it holds. The surface is non-slip quilted fabric rather than smooth polyester. Two straps go around the rear headrests and take the load from above. Two anchors push into the crease where the seat base meets the backrest. On slippery faux-leather, fit all three — it's thirty extra seconds and it's the difference between a cover that stays and one that ends up in the footwell.
Is it actually waterproof?
The surface has a waterproof finish, so rain, mud, drool and spills sit on top and wipe off. What we won't pretend is that it's a sealed tray — if your dog is sick and it pools on a seam for twenty minutes, it can eventually work through. Deal with a real spill reasonably promptly and your seats stay dry.
Can passengers still use the back seat?
Yes, and this is where a bench cover beats a hammock. It sits flat across the seat, so people can sit on it with nothing to remove. There are openings for the seatbelts so buckles and harness clips still reach.
Does it keep my dog safe?
It stops your dog sliding around on the seat, which matters on every journey. It is not a crash restraint and we don't sell it as one — Rule 57 of the Highway Code asks for a suitable harness, crate or guard, and this works alongside those, not instead of them.
How do I clean it?
Shake it out, or wipe with a damp cloth — the waterproof surface means most mud comes off dry once it's set. For a deeper clean, sponge with warm soapy water and hang it to dry. Don't tumble dry: heat damages the waterproof finish.
How long will delivery take?
7 to 15 days, tracked, and you'll get the tracking number by email as soon as it ships. We'd rather be honest about that up front than promise next-day and disappoint you.
What if it doesn't work for us?
Thirty days to send it back for a full refund, used or not. Email us and we'll sort it.
Why we made this
We started Velyras because of one specific irritation: loving where your dog wants to go, and dreading the drive home.
Everything we sell has to pass the same test — does it solve a real problem a dog owner has on an ordinary Tuesday? Not a gimmick. Something you fit once and then stop thinking about, which is the highest compliment a piece of kit can earn.
