Two in the morning, and the switch is the problem
You know where it is. You also know that flicking it on floods the landing, wakes whoever is asleep behind the nearest door, and leaves you blinking for a minute. So you don't. You feel along the wall instead, and hope nobody left a bag on the stairs.
The lights that solve this are usually the problem in miniature: a white plastic bar stuck to the skirting with foam tape, hanging off by Christmas. This is a wood mount and a magnet. It goes where you need it, it stays there, and the light comes away in your hand when you want to take it into the cupboard.

Questions
Where does it actually mount?
Anywhere you have a smooth flat surface and a reason: the landing wall, the side of a bookcase, inside the airing cupboard, under a shelf, beside the back door. The wood base fixes with adhesive tape — no drilling, which is the point in a rented flat. Paint, gloss, laminate, glass and sealed wood all hold well. Textured wallpaper, bare plaster and anything dusty do not, and no adhesive pad changes that. Wipe the spot first and press for thirty seconds.
Will the magnet actually hold it?
It holds the light in normal use and lets you lift it off deliberately. Two things we won't overstate: it is a magnet rather than a bracket, so a hard knock from a child or a dog will take it off; and the base itself is held by adhesive tape, so the surface it is stuck to is the real limit. If it will get bumped, mount it higher.
Is it bright enough to light the room?
No, and it isn't meant to be. It is 18cm of warm light — enough to see the stairs, find the loo, or read a label at the back of a dark cupboard. Warm rather than white, deliberately, because the point is to see without waking up properly. If you want to read by it, you want a lamp.
How often will I have to charge it?
Eight hours of light per charge, and that is light-on time rather than standby — the clock only runs while it is actually lit. Twenty minutes of use overnight leaves 7 hours 40 minutes, so at that rate you are charging it roughly every three weeks. A light on a busy hallway that triggers a dozen times an evening will need charging more often than one in a cupboard. Charges over USB from any plug you already own.
Does it stay on, or only when I move?
Only when it detects movement. It comes on as you approach and goes off by itself shortly after you have gone, which is what keeps the charge lasting. If you want a light that stays on all night, this is the wrong product.
How many do I need?
One does a single spot. Two covers the usual pair — landing and hallway, or hallway and back door. Four is for a staircase, where the point is a run of them rather than one bright patch. Buying two costs less per light than buying one twice, and four costs less again, because the postage doesn't double.
How long does delivery take?
